Jaimie Bernstein

Artistic Director/Owner

Ballet/Pointe/Junior Company
ABT® NTC Fellow, certified in Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.


Mrs. Bernstein began dancing at the age of nine in California.  Throughout her training she won national titles, scholarships, and special awards.  She has studied with many sought-after teachers  including David Allen, Diane  Diefenderfer and Jason Myher of the University of California, Irvine, Victoria Koenig and Kevin Meyers of Inland Pacific Ballet, Lawrence Rosenburg of Anaheim Ballet, and Carol Tong Fipps of Dance RAW, to name a few.  While studying at the University of California, Irvine, where she earned a degree in Dance, Mrs. Bernstein became an advocate for bringing dance into the inner-city schools.  Toward this end, she was awarded  scholarships and grants that allowed her program to reach more students.


Upon graduating from college, Mrs. Bernstein danced professionally as a soloist and demi-soloist with Anaheim Ballet, Los Angeles Opera, and Opera Pacific.  Since moving to New Jersey, she has been teaching locally.  Mrs. Bernstein has won many choreography awards. Her students continue to win high awards at competitions, and have gotten into programs with American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Bolshoi, The Joffrey, Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, Complexions Ballet, School at Steps, Broadway Dance Center, and many more. 


Mrs. Bernstein is very excited to begin this new phase of her life as Artistic Director/owner of DTNJ while raising her  three children in New Jersey, and proudly watching her husband perform at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.


Tiffany Spataro

Co-Artistic Director

Dance has always been a part of Tiffany's life, starting at the age of 4. Tiffany began competing early-on in regional and national competitions where she won many awards through her teen years. She worked with many teachers and choreographers, such as Tony Award winning Thommie Walsh, Janice Barringer and Roberta Mathes with whom she performed “A Step Above” with the staff at Steps On Broadway. Today, Tiffany is the Co-Artistic Director at Dance Theatre of New Jersey, with her focus on teaching and choreography. She consistently demonstrates her talents here leading a student based dance company. Her company has performed at commercial venues including Walt Disney’s Epcot and Hollywood Studios, Six Flags Great Adventure and The Nets pre-game performance, as well as benefit fundraisers and regional and national competitions. She has personally won numerous choreography awards at many competitions including Starquest, Nexstar, Starbound and Showbiz. To her credit, several of Tiffany’s students have gone on to study dance with ABT’s student program, Complexions Contemporary Ballet summer program and critically acclaimed college and conservatory programs, as well as going on to dance professionally in companies such as the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company and American Ballet Theatre.


Tiffany has had the honor of presenting her work at a Dancers Responding To Aids Dancin’ Downtown at The Joyce performance, as well as the recent Project Create Choreography Competition, where her work was seen and evaluated by an esteemed panels of judges. In addition to Tiffany’s experience on the stage, she has also has runway knowhow.  Tiffany choreographed the opening production number for the Paul Mitchell Company spring fashion show two years running. She also had the ultimate privilege of being the choreographer for leading stylist and innovator Vivienne Mackinder at a fall 2009 Intercoiffure North America event. In the summer of 2012, Tiffany was inspired to create and direct her own pre-professional contemporary dance company “Visions Contemporary Dance”. The company has been very well received at local performances.  “Visions Contemporary Dance” had the great opportunities to perform at White Waves CoolNY Dance festival in January of 2012 and 2013. Look for Tiffany and her companies in upcoming regional and national performances!


Laurel Izzi started dance at the age of three and has been sharing her love for the art and it's qualities to her students for the last 12 years. She is trained in all forms of dance as well as acrobatics and tumbling. During her dance career, Laurel was awarded various regional and national titles and is also now recognized as a choreographer and teacher. Laurel has been teaching for us for 6 years.

Janette Rawls graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Belhaven University where she studied under Ravenna Tucker, Stephen Wynne, Britta Wynne, Cynthia Newland, Laura Morton and many other wonderful teachers. During her college years, she performed a variety of works by faculty members and guest choreographers including Thera Ward and Steve Rooks. She furthered her education with summer intensives at American Ballet Theatre and the American Dance Festival including master classes with David Howard, Leslie Brown, Gerri Houlihan, David Dorfman, and Lisa Race. In addition to her dance studies, she worked on technical crews for Pilobolus, Martha Graham Dance Company, Jose Limon Dance Company, and Paul Taylor Dance Company as a stagecraft apprentice. After receiving her B. F. A., Janette accepted a company position with Stӧrling Dance Theater, performing in the large productions Underground and The Little Match Girl as well as in several smaller shows with the company. In Houston, Janette performed solo and ensemble roles with Earthen Vessels: Sandra Organ Dance Company for shows including Si Se Puede, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Mothers of Movement, and Sacred Dances. Janette also appeared as a guest artist with FrenetiCore, Jhon Stronks, and in several commercial dance and modeling projects with Dance Houston. In 2009, she produced her first dance show, Seeing, in the Minnesota Fringe Festival. In 2013, she co-founded Emotions Physical Theatre with her husband Shawn and serves as the administrative director and occasionally as a dancer. Janette has over seven years of teaching experience including teaching at the collegiate level, for summer intensives, and in performing arts schools. She is certified in Stott Pilates and is an ABT® Certified Teacher in Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

Kelly Cicillini began her training at the age of 3 and by the age of 10 was a competitive dancer in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Lyrical. She continued competing both regionally and nationally winning numerous awards until graduating from High School. Kelly has extensive training and has studied under the direction of some of the top teachers in the world, at New Jersey School of Ballet and Broadway Dance Center. She is a certified teacher and member through Dance Masters of America as well as a member of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.  Kelly studied dance at County College of Morris, NJ and Business Administration at Northwood University, Palm Beach, FL.. Kelly has won numerous choreography awards and credits for her teaching. She continues her studies at teacher’s conventions and workshops and continues to train with master teachers and choreographers from around the world. Kelly is teaching and choreographing in a variety of dance studios in northern New Jersey, sharing her love for dance. When she is not dancing, Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband John and her three daughters, Daniela, Alissa and Liliana.

Mrs. Crispano attended dance lessons as a child but started pursuing teaching at age thirty. While raising a family, her main focus of study was Ballet and Ballroom. She attended The American Ballet Theatre in New York City to enhance her teaching skills. The ABT curriculum is nationally recognized for Ballet education based on age and development. For the last four years she has taught and assisted children ranging in age from two to seventeen. She is passionate about sharing her love of dance with students of all ages.

Samantha Jay, a New Jersey native, began her dance training at an early age. She performed in the Nutcracker with Ballet for Young Audiences and later was a featured soloist with the Livingston Symphony Orchestra.  While in high school, she began assisting tap dancer, Nick DiNicolangelo, at Adrenaline Dance Convention.  In 2008, Sam was the recipient of the Harlequin Dance Scholarship and she went on to receive her BA in Sociology from Quinnipiac University.  While at Quinnipiac, Sam was a 4-year member of the Dance Company as well as President and choreographer.  In her senior year, she was voted MVP of the team and her choreography was selected for the Undertoe Dance Festival in New York City.  After graduation, Sam joined the Hands Down Tap Project and she was featured in their first three shows.  She currently works as a dance teacher, choreographer, and performer.  Her students can be seen in the Radio City Christmas Show, Billy Elliot National Tour, and Matilda.  Her choreography has won awards on both a regional and national level.  Sam was interviewed as a “Leading Lady” for IWantHerJob.com.  Sam continues to teach guest classes and choreograph for several studios across the US as well as judging for national talent competitions.
